Hero Concepts - Colored by AlexanderHenderson Hero Concepts - Colored by AlexanderHenderson
I guess I haven't been posting much artwork as of late. Aside from my brief camping trip this weekend, most of my time has been devoted to learning 3d animation in Maya. It's been a lot of fun and I'm learning a lot (I'm currently in the process of rigging a character from an online course I'm doing).

Anyway, to keep me sane while learning this program, I work on drawing and painting some characters. It helps to give me a break and focus on something else. These are some of those drawings.

Character 1
Name: Hot Wings
Real Name: Kenneth Tucker
Bio: After firefighter Kenneth "Ken" Tucker tried to extinguish a fire scorching a building belonging to Nemean Enterprises, Kenneth found himself trapped under the rubble of the burning warehouse. Upon discovering that chemicals had begun dripping onto him, the fire got to him, but he was unharmed by it. In fact, it was invigorating! The next day, he discovered he had fire powers and chose to use his training to fight crime. With an immunity to fire and the ability to control, create and extinguish it, Hot Wings is a force of justice and a force to be reckoned with in general! He leads the Ultra-Species, a team of superheroes.

Character 2
Name: Crossfire
Real Name: Hunter McDonald
Bio: While on a hunting trip with his dad, Lawrence, Hunter was lost in the woods when a fire broke out. Apparently, a campfire wasn't put out in time. Just when things seemed bleak, Hunter was saved by Hot Wings, who, after returning Hunter to his dad, admired the superhero for saving his life. Becoming Crossfire to help his hero fight crime, he occasionally gets into trouble, but Hot Wings recognizes his potential as a hero. He is the latest recruit in the Ultra-Species

Character 3
Name: Electro-Cat
Real Name: Felicia Catherine Tesla
Bio: Computer programmer Felicia Hughes is head of the science department at Nemean Enterprises. When she found out about an illegal experiment involving stolen technology, she was forced to be a test subject. Felicia was used to see if people could run fast enough to break the sound barrier using electricity. While it was successful, the experiment made Felicia move fast using electrical currents. Felicia fled from her former co-workers and became the superheroine named "Electro-Cat". She is the brains of the Ultra-Species.

Character 4
Name: Wind Wolf
Real Name: Stephen Wolfe
Bio: Museum security guard Stephen Wolfe was called forth one night toward the Feudal Japan exhibit. A cursed picture of a shogun had been calling to him. After getting too close, he was given the power to use the wind to aid in fighting an ancient evil known only as the Daitengu. Reluctantly accepting his role, he chose a dark costume as a metaphor for how the air isn't seen but its presence is known. He might not be a member of the Ultra-Species, but Wind Wolf aids them from time to time.

Character 5
Name: Captain Kaboom
Real Name: Theodore Adams
Bio: Police officer Theodore Adams is a technically gifted bear with a love for fireworks. It then came as no surprise when he began using such things when his precinct became aware of his crimefighting exploits. Becoming the demolitions expert and comic relief of the Ultra-Species, he uses his tech-savvy nature to undo or make certain devices to aid the team. He might not be talkative, but when he is, hilarity often ensues.

Character 6
Name: The Thrasher
Real Name: Cletus Horne
Bio: Pro-wrestler Cletus "Impact" Horne is one of the most respected wrestlers sponsored by Animal Television Co., or ATC for short. He was disrespectful to others until he found out he was dying. Believing he needed to clean up his act, he began treating other people better, and even saved a young woman named Clarissa from a mugger. After finding out that his "upcoming death" was a lie someone made up, he still chose to be a better person, liking the well-earned praise. He later became The Thrasher, serving as the muscle of the Ultra-Species.

Hey, these are all pretty fun. I've gotta say that 6 is my favorite. They're all quite different from the backstories I had come up with, but yours have their own unique flare to it. That being said, you pretty much game up with the same personalities I did. I think 5 is a lot better than what I had come up with, particularly with how it relates to some of the others.

These are just some superhero sketches I was brainstorming one day, not many of them have had the time to be fully developed.

Awesome! I just love the idea of an animal 'SuperFriends'-like team! :XD:
But which animal is the second one from left to right? It looks like a weasel, but I'm not sure. :-?

Thanks, I thought it would be a fun idea to draw. The one to the right is a weasel like you said. Looking back I wish I had made him more weasel-like, as I think that quality got lost in the tooniness of it all.

Ah wow, what a cast. Love the idea, and wow you've got some pretty nice variety here! All sorts of shapes too actually, absolutely love the variety of size, expression and colors. They all look and feel like genuinely believable characters: an excellent stage to be in with concepts. Well done!

Good concepts, stylish, drawn with accuracy, nice, have their own special features. And they have even correctly reflections!
Are they for old-style cartoon like źDuck stories╗ or something else?

Thanks, these guys aren't really for anything, just visual brainstorming to keep me drawing. But yeah, I guess you could say they're in the same vein of style as shows like Darkwing Duck.

Well, about what I said on fur affinity cuz they don't look very heroic, I think I can't say that cuz I make one less heroic than all then together: [link]

nice body type variety. i find alot of superheroes tend to have the same idealized figures, so kudos:)

Thanks, I actually haven't properly named a lot of these guys yet. Somebody on another site suggested Bullwhip as his name, which I kind of thought was interesting.
