Flamingo Geurilla Rotation by AlexanderHenderson Flamingo Geurilla Rotation by AlexanderHenderson
DAC Turnaround Challenge

This is a rotation sheet of a character I came up with to go with the rhino character I made for my timeline. It felt good to practice rotations again especially since my last one turned out so horribly. I feel like this one was an improvement, although I was hoping for a less grungy appearance in favor of more of a clean, animated look. But still, I'm pretty happy with how this gut turned out.

As always, criticism and critique is greatly appreciated, don't be afraid of offending me.

Well there's something you don't see everyday it seems! An interesting idea, and as silly as it is, I can easily see this being a character in an actual animated piece. Interesting also how you've managed to take a concept that's both gritty and grungy into a cartoony, simple style. Well done I'd say!

Oh my god, ahahdsjlkdjsd I love this. I think this is K-Lee's spirit animal. I want a whole world of guerilla characters now ahhhhh...

This would be a good animal for her. I would imagine that the best spirit animals carry AK47's. Hearing that you want a whole world of characters like this got me thinking, and I think after I do some human anatomy/muscle studies and maybe another layout, I may do another geurilla type character of a water buffalo.

Of course - what better animal to protect your soul than one with an AK47? Makes sense to me.

Dude, you read my mind on the water buffalo thing. I was going to suggest that! These guys need background stories.

it's interesting to me that you've played down one of the animal's defining features- the long legs. from a practical perspective, it makes sense- but without the title, i would have probably had to think twice about exactly what bird species this was.

Thanky uo for bringing that to my attention. Originally I had the legs longer, but I kept reworking it to make it so he looked more balanced and in the process his legs became shorter. I think the reason his species didn't come across as clear was because I tried to give him a bit of a vulture-esque quality to match his personality. But anyway, thanks for telling me what you thought, I really appreciate it, if I ever work with this character again I'll take into account what you said :)
