This was a commission for of his sci fi character Rene. This was a fun model sheet to work on, the character had a solid personality to work with and that's always useful.
I really like the eating pose, it makes him look very cute and endearing! For the rest, you've done an excellent job on the expressions, and it's very interesting to see a turnaround (which has also been executed very well); it really gives a holistic insight into the character.
Thanks, glad you like it. When I was asked to do an eating pose I wasn't really sure how to make it look interesting, but it ended up being one of the better poses.
Hah well sir well sir, I must say that he looks absolutely fantastic in your style. So good to see him so toony looking…I especially like how well he ‘flows’ in the dynamic poses around the left side of the page. I will get more to those in a minute.
Love your work on his outfit, wanna just get that out there. Digging the belt and the little bits of ribbing on his legs…nice little touch also with the little bit riding up around his feet, helps separate out the almost monotony of his jumpsuit. Love the little collar up there, and the coat looks great. The gloves are very very nice, the wrinkles or ribbing or what it should be called adds a rather nice touch. Physically he looks awesome in your style, the toonish look I mentioned above, mostly with how his face and cheeks look…and that snout of his...the shape of the nose is fantastic. Also want to note real quick I really like the color pallet you gave him, they all go together very nicely. His belly looks great as well, doesn’t look out of place or anything, I mean the weight flows nicely. I especially like how in your style, in the top left one the weight ‘moves backwards’ as he leans forward, rather cool touch I must say.
I really like all the side sketches as well, especially the one with the beakers and the running, your style is just so delightfully expressive, I swear like every facet of the face is involved in your expressions. The chocolate pose is just too cute, and the one where he is fondling his stomach, again you are great with the expressions.
The turn around is really really neat, I mean I have never seen one using one of my characters, I should make one myself sometime. Good to see him from so many different angles, rather like the insight you get from that.
Thanks again man, this looks fantastic, love the work! (one minor thing though, my name is misspelled, the first H should not be there)
Indeed sir, this looks fantastic, again I thank you for all your work on it! The spelling error is not a big issue, but thank you for addressing it...and also, glad you had fun working with him
True, a character with a strong personality ususally does make itself, in both poses and expression. And you have taken it quite far I see, with the various poses using as him pouring a potion and running are pretty kinetic and fun. Well done here!
